As a composer Arja is very much inspired by rhythm. Her current passion is to dig deeper into the roots of Afro-Cuban and African music traditions and explore different ways to create new music inspired by them.

 

In December 2015 - January 2016  she went to Cuba to collect music and to learn more about the rhythms and chants of Santería tradition. The next composing project will be based on that material.
